ऋषि अष्टानंद स्वामी रामानंद जी के प्रमुख शिष्यों में से एक थे। संवत् १४५५ की ज्येष्ठ पूर्णिमा को जब वे लहरतारा सरोवर पर ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में ध्यानमग्न थे, तब उन्होंने सत्यलोक से उतरते हुए असीम प्रकाश स्तंभ का प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन किया था।
