The Fourth Night: Queen Malavika's Lost Ruby & The Singing Bird
मुक्ता-आभूषण और चतुर्थ रात्रि का शृंगार
The Pearl Ornament & The Fourth Escape
On the fourth night, the matchmaker slipped into the mansion bearing an exquisite pearl and gold hair ornament sent by Prince Gunashali, with an urgent plea for a secret meeting.
See these pearls from the southern sea, fair lady! The prince swears his life is empty without your gaze!

Draped in royal crimson silk with rich gold zari borders, Prabhavati pinned the shimmering pearls into her dark braid, her heart trembling with adventurous desire.
Three nights I have lingered. Tonight I shall slip past the gates unseen!

She pulled her sheer silk veil over her face and hurried toward the moonlit courtyard door.

Shuka
In the archway above, Shuka bowed with dazzling courtly elegance, his voice melodic as a silver flute.
May good fortune accompany your steps, fair Mistress! The midnight breeze is sweet! But tell me...

Prabhavati paused on the threshold with an amused smile.
What fresh mystery do you bring tonight, O green philosopher? Nothing shall hold me back!

Shuka looked deep into her eyes, delivering his fourth riddle:
Go by all means, noble lady! But if false gossip brands you a thief of honour tonight, do you possess the psychological genius of Haridatta and his Songbird before King Chandrasena?
Haridatta?! How did a songbird clear a man of royal theft?!
महारानी का खोया हार और चंचल वानर
The Stolen Ruby & The Mischievous Monkey
"Hear the tale of truth!" began Shuka. In the golden kingdom of Avanti, Queen Malavika was bathing in the palace lotus pool with her maidens. She removed her priceless crimson ruby necklace, setting it upon a carved marble balustrade.

High on the palace roof sat a mischievous pet monkey. Fascinated by the sparkling red stones, the monkey silently leaped down, snatched the ruby necklace, and darted into a giant flowering sandalwood tree!

Unseen by any human eye, the cunning monkey stuffed the sparkling necklace deep into a dark hollow in the tree trunk, hiding its secret treasure.

The False Accusation & The Impending Execution
When the Queen discovered her necklace missing, the palace erupted into chaos! Seeing an innocent poor temple musician playing his veena near the garden gates, the guards seized him in iron chains, accusing him of the theft!
Mercy, guards! I have stolen nothing! I was only offering ragas to the temple deity!

In the royal courtroom, King Chandrasena was blinded by circumstantial suspicion. Deaf to the poor man's cries, he ordered the musician sent to the gallows!
You were the only stranger in the garden! Confess where you hid the Queen's ruby, or face the executioner at dawn!

Just then, the renowned court philosopher and musician **Haridatta** stepped forward, holding his divine veena and a trained celestial nightingale in a small brass cage.
Hold, Your Majesty! Human eyes jump to false conclusions, but nature never lies! Grant me one evening in the royal garden, and my songbird shall uncover the real thief!

The Music of Truth in the Royal Garden
Intrigued, the King halted the execution and followed Haridatta with his ministers into the quiet palace gardens at twilight.

Sitting cross-legged beneath the giant sandalwood tree, Haridatta struck the strings of his veena, playing an intoxicating, hypnotic classical raga, while his songbird trilled celestial high notes in unison!

High in the branches, the mischievous monkey heard the irresistible rhythm! Its toes tapped, its head bobbed, and it began dancing wildly along the branches to the melody!

The Monkey
As the music reached a fever pitch of joy, the ecstatic monkey reached deep into the tree hollow, pulling out the glittering crimson ruby necklace to wave it in the air like a musical rattle!

Charmed by the gentle melody, the monkey hopped down from the lower branches and dropped the sparkling ruby necklace right into Haridatta's lap!

From behind the marble pillars, the King and courtiers stood frozen in stunned amazement! The real thief was the palace monkey!

King Chandrasena immediately embraced the innocent musician, granting him a chest of gold and lands in restitution, while honoring Haridatta with royal robes for saving the throne from a catastrophic injustice!

Back on the moonlit balcony of Chandravati, Shuka looked at Prabhavati, his amber eyes shining with moral power.

The Fourth Dawn in Chandravati
Prabhavati sat on the velvet bolsters, her breath taken away by the sheer genius of Haridatta's psychological trap.
What profound insight! He did not torture or accuse—he used art and nature to make the truth reveal itself!

Shuka delivered his fourth decisive riddle:
Now tell me, Prabhavati—if you sneak into the dark streets tonight and malicious gossip brands you a fallen woman, who will play the veena of truth to clear your name before your husband and the world?

Prabhavati fell silent, gripped by the terror of irreversible slander. As she pondered, golden morning sunlight flooded the sandstone verandas! The fourth night had passed!

The temple bells of Chandravati rang for morning prayers. Smiling with deep reverence, Prabhavati removed the prince's pearl ornament, placed it safely beside Shuka's swing, and retreated peacefully to her bedchamber—her virtue and lineage saved for the fourth night!
You have saved my honour once again, wondrous Shuka. Rest your voice, and tonight I shall return for your fifth tale!
Rest peacefully, noble Mistress. When dusk falls, the fifth enigma shall awaken!
