The Arabian Pearls & The Eighth Night
On the eighth evening, the matchmaker slipped into the mansion bearing a shimmering necklace of royal Arabian pearls sent by Prince Gunashali.
Behold these royal pearls from across the western sea, fair Prabhavati! The prince counts every heartbeat until your arrival!

Draped in fiery vermilion silk with shimmering gold embroidery, Prabhavati clasped the pearl necklace around her neck, captivated by royal glamour.
Tonight, nothing shall stop me! My feet are eager for the moonlit pavilions!

She adjusted her silk veil and stepped toward the courtyard gate with swift, eager steps.

Shuka
From his high golden perch, Shuka bowed with dazzling courtly elegance.
May good fortune smile upon your path, Queen of Charm! The midnight air is fragrant! But tell me...

Prabhavati paused on the threshold, smiling with playful confidence.
What fresh enigma do you spin tonight, my green philosopher?

Shuka raised his golden crest and whispered with dramatic gravity:
Go by all means, fair lady! But do you possess the sharp forensic eye of Jivaka the Washerman when King Dharmaditya's prized white warhorse was stolen from the royal stables?
A washerman solving the theft of a royal warhorse?! How could soap and water catch a master horse-thief?!

The Stolen White Stallion & The Muddy Disguise
"Listen to the art of discernment!" began Shuka. In the imperial kingdom of Kanauj, King Dharmaditya's prized warhorse—a magnificent, celestial snow-white stallion with golden horseshoes—was stolen from the locked royal stables!

The furious King offered a massive reward of one thousand gold dinars, threatening to execute the stable master if the white stallion was not recovered in three days.
Find my white warhorse or face the gallows! No thief can hide a celestial beast in this kingdom!

Meanwhile at the river ghat market, a shady horse-trader was trying to sell a dirty, ugly, dark-brown muddy horse for a suspiciously cheap handful of copper coins.

The Washerman
Humble washerman Jivaka was washing royal silks by the water. His experienced eye noticed the horse's proud arched neck, muscular shoulders, and the unmistakable pungent scent of boiled walnut bark!

Jivaka casually touched the horse's flank with his soapy wet fingers. Dark brown dye dissolved instantly on his skin! *'This is no common nag—this is the King's white stallion painted in walnut juice and river mud!'*

Jivaka ran straight to the palace gates, bowing fearlessly before King Dharmaditya!
Your Majesty! Grant me a tub of boiling water and my herbal soapwort, and I shall produce your stolen white stallion before the court!

The Grand Courtroom Scrubbing Trial
In the palace courtyard before the King, ministers, and the sweating horse-trader, the muddy brown nag was led to the center of the marble floor.

Jivaka rolled up his sleeves, dipped his herbal soapwort sponge into steaming hot water, and began scrubbing the horse's shoulder with vigorous, foaming lather!

Thick streams of brown walnut dye washed away onto the marble, revealing a dazzling patch of pure, shimmering snow-white coat beneath!

The Royal Brand Revealed & The 1,000 Dinar Reward
As Jivaka washed the flank completely clean, the King's golden solar royal brand shone brilliantly in the sunlight!

The court erupted in thunderous applause! Royal guards seized the trembling horse-thief in heavy iron chains, sending him to the dungeon.

King Dharmaditya embraced humble Jivaka, presenting him with the chest of one thousand gold dinars and appointing him Royal Master of Purity!

The Eighth Dawn in Chandravati
Back on the moonlit balcony of Chandravati, Shuka concluded the tale with piercing moral clarity under the starlight.

Prabhavati sat on the bolsters, marveling at the simple power of observation.
How absurd of the thief to think a layer of mud could disguise a royal warhorse from a skilled washerman!

Shuka delivered his eighth decisive riddle:
Now tell me, Prabhavati—is it wiser to believe that secret transgressions can be masked with flattering words, or remember that the soap of truth washes away every coat of deceit?

Prabhavati sat in quiet introspection, realizing that the prince's romance was merely cheap dye hiding disgrace.

As the lesson sank into her soul, golden dawn sunlight flooded the Chandravati skyline! The temple conches sounded across the city. The eighth night had passed!

Smiling with profound reverence, Prabhavati removed the Arabian pearl necklace, handed Shuka a handful of sweet almonds, and returned peacefully to her chamber—her virtue and household saved for the eighth night!
You have washed away the illusions of my heart, wise Shuka. Rest peacefully, and tonight I shall return for your ninth tale!
Rest well, noble Mistress. When dusk falls, the ninth enigma shall awaken!
