The Third Night: The King's Decree & The Three Clever Weavers
The Diamond Ring & The Third Night
On the third evening, the matchmaker arrived bearing an exquisite diamond-studded royal ring sent by the infatuated prince, promising eternal devotion at the palace gardens.
See this royal diamond, fair Prabhavati! It sparkles like the stars of heaven! The prince awaits your arrival beneath the flowering Ashoka trees!

Dressed in an opulent emerald-green and gold silk saree, Prabhavati slipped the diamond ring onto her slender finger, her heart swelling with vanity.
Tonight, no riddle on earth can hold me back! I shall taste royal splendour!

With triumphant confidence, she glided toward the courtyard gate under the starlit sky.
Shuka
Shuka fluttered down to the archway, bowing with supreme diplomatic charm.
Auspicious travels, fair Mistress! The prince's garden awaits your radiant smile! But tell me...

Prabhavati laughed playfully, raising an eyebrow at the emerald bird.
What puzzle have you spun tonight, O scholar of the cage? You cannot outwit me three nights in a row!

Shuka raised his golden crest and whispered with dramatic gravity:
Go by all means, Queen of Charms! But do you possess the fearless courtroom wit of the Three Weavers when the tyrannical King Yashodharma demanded an impossible celestial tapestry?
The Three Weavers?! What celestial tapestry did they weave for the King?!
The Tyrannical Decree of King Yashodharma
"Listen closely!" smiled Shuka. In the sacred kingdom of Kashi ruled King Yashodharma—a monarch so vain and insecure that he demanded flattery from dawn till midnight.

Summoning the kingdom's three finest weavers—Gunakara, Tantuvanta, and Shilpi—the King issued an impossible royal ultimatum!
Weave me a celestial royal garment that is invisible to all fools and hypocrites, but glorious to the wise! Fail, and the executioner's axe awaits you in thirty days!

While the court trembled, the three clever weavers exchanged secret amused glances and bowed to the floor.
Your Majesty's will is our command! We shall spin the very essence of truth itself!
The Theatrical Looms of Empty Air
In their sunlit workshop, the weavers set up three grand wooden looms with **NOT A SINGLE THREAD!** Day and night, they moved their shuttles with dramatic theatrical flair, spinning pure, empty air!

On day fifteen, the King's Prime Minister arrived to inspect the progress. He peered at the looms in cold sweat, seeing absolutely nothing!
By the gods! I see only empty air! Am I a brainless fool, unfit to be Prime Minister?!

The chief weaver held up empty air with grand reverence: *"Behold this divine golden lotus pattern, Lord Minister! Only the purest and wisest souls can perceive it!"*
Ah! Magnificent! Breathtaking embroidery! I shall tell the King it is a divine masterpiece!
The Royal Fitting & The Court
On the thirtieth day, the weavers entered the throne room carrying empty golden boxes, miming lifting an invisible celestial robe with trembling awe!

The King stripped to his undergarments. Staring into the mirror, he saw nothing! But terrified of being branded an illegitimate fool, he gasped in feigned wonder!
Ah! How light as a breeze! What dazzling celestial brilliance!

Every single minister, general, and priest cheered in thunderous applause, terrified to admit they saw only their bare monarch!
The Grand Parade & The Child
Puffed with pride, King Yashodharma rode his royal elephant through the city square wearing only his silk undergarments, while thousands of citizens stared in bewildered silence!

Suddenly, an innocent little boy perched on his father's shoulders pointed his finger and burst into innocent, ringing laughter!
Look, Father! The King is naked! He wears only his underwear!

The dam broke! The entire city erupted into roaring laughter! The King froze, his face turning bright crimson with shock and humiliation!
The Courtroom Defense & The Royal Awakening
Dragged before the furious King, the chief weaver Gunakara bowed with calm dignity.
Your Majesty! We did not mock you. We proved that an entire court of sycophants will lie to stroke your ego, while only truth can protect your kingdom!

The King's anger dissolved into hearty laughter. Realizing his own vanity, he rewarded the three weavers with chests of gold for teaching him the priceless lesson of truth!
The Third Dawn in Chandravati
Back on the moonlit veranda of Chandravati, Prabhavati clapped her hands in delight at the weavers' brilliant wit.

Shuka delivered his third decisive riddle:
Now answer, Prabhavati—is it wiser to be flattered by false lovers who praise your vanity, or to embrace the truth that protects your home like the three weavers?

As Prabhavati pondered the truth of her own infatuation, the rose-gold rays of dawn illuminated the Chandravati skyline!

The temple conches sounded the morning prayers. Smiling with deep gratitude, Prabhavati removed the prince's diamond ring, placed it near Shuka's swing, and returned peacefully to her chamber—virtue and lineage preserved for the third night!
You have shown me the mirror of truth, wise Shuka. Rest well, and tonight I shall eagerly await your fourth tale!
