The Thirty-First Night: The Rebellious Son & The Iron Anchor
The Coral Armlet & The Thirty-First Night
On the thirty-first twilight, a courier delivered an exquisite golden armlet set with carved red coral buds sent to Prabhavati.
See these ocean corals from the southern deeps, fair lady! Tonight's coastal banquet awaits your radiant presence!

Draped in coral-red and gold silk with heavy gold zari borders, Prabhavati fastened the armlet onto her arm by candlelight, admiring her reflection.
Tonight, my steps shall not falter! I shall attend the coastal feast!

She adjusted her sheer veil and walked with swift, confident steps toward the mansion gate.
Shuka
From his high golden swing, Shuka bowed with dazzling courtly elegance.
May auspicious stars illuminate your path, Queen of Charm! The evening breeze is fragrant! But tell me...

Prabhavati paused on the threshold, raising an amused eyebrow.
What fresh enigma do you bring tonight on this thirty-first night, O wise Shuka?

Shuka looked deep into her eyes, his ruby beak glinting in the lantern glow:
Go with joy, fair lady! But if reckless impulses urge you to abandon traditional caution tonight, do you possess the maritime survival wisdom of Captain Samudragupta when a rebellious heir mocked the heavy iron anchor before a raging monsoon storm?
A rebellious son mocking the heavy iron anchor in a tempest?! How did the despised old iron save the entire ship and crew?!
The Ocean Voyage & The Heavy Anchor
"Hear the masterclass of steadfast roots!" began Shuka. Young, arrogant merchant heir Ratnakara took command of his father's great ocean trading vessel *Samudra-Shobha* on a voyage to Suvarnadvipa.

To pack more luxury silk bolts and wine jars, Ratnakara ordered the ship's massive four-fluked iron anchor thrown into the ocean, mocking it as useless dead weight!
Throw this rusty iron into the sea! Gold and silk bring profit, not dead iron!

Wise veteran Captain Samudragupta secretly intervened, ordering seasoned sailors to hide the heavy anchor deep in the ballast hold beneath the lower floorboards.
The Raging Monsoon Typhoon
Midnight in the open ocean! A ferocious monsoon typhoon descended—towering black waves smashed the decks, and howling gales shredded the main sails to ribbons!

Helpless in the raging current, the wooden ship was dragged at terrifying speed straight toward razor-sharp, lethal black coral cliffs!

Ratnakara wept in hysterical terror, watching his precious silk rolls and golden wine jars wash away into the black abyss. Gold could not stop the ship from crashing!
We are doomed! My gold cannot save us from the rocks!
The Dropping of the Heavy Iron Anchor
Captain Samudragupta rushed to the bow with six seasoned sailors, hauling out the hidden four-fluked iron anchor and heavy forged iron chains.

With a mighty coordinated heave, the sailors dropped the colossal iron anchor over the bow into the churning, roaring black depths!

**CLANG-RRR!** The iron flukes bit deep into the granite seabed. The forged chain snapped taut with a mighty metallic shudder, halting the ship **just ten yards before the lethal reef cliffs!**
Hold fast! The ancient iron holds the seabed!
The Storm Calms & The Heir Humbled
Dawn broke over the tranquil blue sea. Golden sunlight reflected upon the peaceful water as the battered ship rode safely at anchor!

Weeping in profound remorse and gratitude, Ratnakara fell at Captain Samudragupta's feet, realizing that discipline and ancestral roots are what keep life safe during tempests.
Forgive my foolish pride, Captain! The heavy iron I despised was the only thing that preserved our lives!

The ship sailed safely into port, the heavy iron anchor forever revered as the unshakeable foundation of prudence, discipline, and dharma!
The Thirty-First Dawn in Chandravati
Back on the moonlit balcony of Chandravati, Shuka concluded the tale with piercing moral clarity under the starlight.

Prabhavati sat on the velvet bolsters, marveling at how the unyielding anchor of virtue preserves the soul when storms of temptation rage.
How sublime! The heavy anchor of ancestral tradition and fidelity is what saves life when the winds of reckless desire howl!

Shuka delivered his thirty-first decisive riddle:
Now tell me, Prabhavati—is it wiser to cast off the heavy anchor of fidelity for fleeting winds, or remain anchored in the sacred trust of your home?

Prabhavati sat in quiet introspection, realizing that her sacred vows and devotion to Madanavinoda are her unshakeable iron anchor against the world's tempests.

As the lesson illuminated her soul, golden dawn sunlight flooded the Chandravati skyline! The temple conches sounded across the city. The thirty-first night had passed!

Smiling with deep reverence, Prabhavati unclasped the coral armlet, placed sweet almonds before Shuka's golden swing, and returned peacefully to her bedchamber—her virtue and household protected for the thirty-first night!
You have secured my soul with the iron anchor of dharma, wise Shuka. Rest peacefully, and tonight I shall return for your thirty-second tale!
Rest well, noble Mistress. When dusk falls, the thirty-second enigma shall awaken!
