The Disputed Meadow & The Cowherd
विवादित चारागाह और चरवाहा बालक का टीला
In the fertile countryside outside ancient Dharanagari, the golden sun illuminated vast yellow mustard fields where cattle grazed peacefully under the azure skies of Malwa, until violent shouts shattered the afternoon peace.

Two wealthy landowners, Devadatta and Somaka, stood locked in a furious altercation over boundary markers and prize livestock, brandishing heavy wooden staves.
"You moved the boundary stones under cover of midnight, Somaka! These five prize milk cows and their calves belong to my ancestral barn!"
"Liar! The ancient neem tree stands as witness that this soil belonged to my forefathers! Not a single hoof shall leave my pasture!"

At the center of the meadow rose a high earthen mound covered in verdant green grass. Atop its crest sat a fourteen-year-old rustic cowherd boy named Chandrabhanu, watching with serene detachment.

The quarrel flared to the brink of bloodshed. Grasping each other's cloaks, the furious farmers marched toward the earthen mound to order the boy to summon the village elder.
"Come to the mound! We will command this cowherd to summon the village headman!"

The instant Chandrabhanu sat upright upon the summit of the mound, a supernatural majesty transformed him—his face radiated solar brilliance as he raised his wooden staff like an imperial sceptre!
"Halt! Cease this futile clamor and present your dispute before my court of Dharma! Truth requires no shouting, and falsehood, however loud, cannot withstand righteous law!"

With the forensic brilliance of an ancient jurist, the boy analyzed the natural drainage of monsoon rain, the spread of ancient roots, and old plow furrows, commanding the loam dug to expose ancestral boundary iron pegs!
"Behold, these ancient iron pegs buried in the loam prove the land is Devadatta's, while the newborn calves were birthed by Somaka's cow! Let the soil be restored to Devadatta and the calves to Somaka!"
The Vanishing Wisdom & The Royal Court
विलुप्त विवेक और राजदरबार में संवाद
Stunned by such absolute impartiality and clarity, both landowners wept tears of reconciliation and embraced, bowing before the rustic youth.

Yet the instant Chandrabhanu leaped down from the mound onto flat soil, the divine luminescence vanished—he became an ordinary giggling cowherd chasing a stray calf!

When questioned on flat ground, Chandrabhanu blushed innocently, possessing zero recollection of his profound judicial verdict!
"Child, tell us again—how did you know where the ancient iron boundary pegs were buried?"
"What verdict, uncle? I only know that my black cow loves the sweet grass beside the lotus pond!"

Word of this inexplicable wonder swiftly reached the sandstone court of Dharanagari. Prostrating before King Bhoja, the farmers recounted the miracle of the earthen mound.

The Chief Minister and court philosophers scoffed in disbelief: *"Sire, can a mound of common mud truly bestow the celestial wisdom of Brihaspati upon an unlettered cowherd?"*
"Sire, this is impossible! Mere mud cannot alter human intellect!"

King Bhoja touched his gemmed sceptre, his voice ringing with royal resolve: *"A righteous king does not scoff upon hearsay; he tests truth with his own eyes! Saddle the royal steeds; we shall examine this mound in person!"*
King Bhoja

At dawn the next morning, King Bhoja rode across the blooming yellow mustard fields upon his white Marwari stallion, accompanied by ministers, jurists, and royal guards.

Arriving at the earthen mound, King Bhoja observed the young cowherd resting upon the summit with his rustic bamboo staff.

Testing the mound's power, King Bhoja presented a fiendishly complex imperial inheritance dispute involving three forged wills and identical royal wax seals.
"Tell me, young judge! When all three wax seals appear identical to the imperial signet, how shall the throne discern truth from forgery?"

Without a heartbeat of hesitation, the youth analyzed the chemical melting rate of resin under sunlight and the microscopic grain of the ink!
"Sire, let the wax seals be warmed beneath the summer sun! Counterfeit pine resin liquefies before authentic imperial shellac, unmasking its fraud to the light!"

When tested under the midday sun, the forged seal liquefied immediately. The royal jurists and ministers stood speechless at the flawless verdict.

As Chandrabhanu stepped down onto the grass, the divine illumination vanished once more into childish innocence. Now King Bhoja strode forward toward the mound himself.
The Sovereign
सम्राट की आत्म-जागृति और उत्खनन की आज्ञा
King Bhoja ascended the grassy mound with deliberate steps. The instant his royal feet touched the summit, an electric shock of cosmic transcendence surged through his veins!

Every shred of royal hubris and vanity dissolved into stardust; his consciousness expanded into a boundless ocean of pure, egoless, and incorruptible Dharma.
"By the Supreme Divine! This virtue is not of the superficial clay. Within the womb of this soil rests the sanctified spirit or sacred throne of an ancient Chakravartin emperor!"

Stepping back down onto flat ground, the transcendent clarity receded into ordinary mortal perception, confirming the miracle beyond any doubt.

King Bhoja commanded his royal architects and generals: *"Summon fifty war elephants and a thousand laborers! Let excavation begin forty cubits into the earth!"*
"We shall unearth this sacred heritage before the eyes of the entire world!"

King Bhoja granted the cowherd boy Chandrabhanu a lifetime royal pension, a herd of a hundred cows, and deed to the pastureland in gratitude.

As twilight settled over the plains, thousands of blazing torches encircled the mound, heralding the greatest archaeological excavation in the history of Bharat.
The Forty-Cubit Excavation & The Golden Throne
चालीस हाथ का उत्खनन और सुवर्ण-सिंहासन का प्राकट्य
Under the glare of blazing flares, hundreds of royal sappers worked in unbroken shifts, cutting through subterranean bedrock and hauling red loam in brass basins.

Forty cubits deep into the bedrock, an iron pickaxe struck unyielding metal. Golden sparks showered into the darkness as the deep, resonant chime of a temple bell echoed from the abyss!
"Sire! An immense golden metallic structure lies below!"

Sweeping aside centuries of compacted loam, the excavators uncovered an astonishing sight: thirty-two gleaming golden steps ascending into subterranean grandeur!

Flanking each step stood thirty-two exquisitely carved celestial Apsara statues in bronze and gold, hands folded and holding flywhisks, lotus blooms, and jeweled vessels.

Beneath the torch flares, ancient Brahmi characters engraved on the central dais shimmered: *"The Throne of Righteousness of Emperor Vikramaditya of Ujjayini!"*
"This is none other than the legendary Battisi Throne of Emperor Vikramaditya!"

Harnessed to braided cables, fifty royal war elephants hoisted the colossal golden throne out of the earth amidst thunderous chants of victory, as King Bhoja pressed the sacred dust to his forehead!
The Consecration & Ratnamanjari
महा-अभिषेक, राज्यारोहण और प्रथम पुतली का प्रबोधन
Vedic priests bathed the thirty-two-step throne in holy Ganga water, raw milk, saffron, and red sandalwood paste, chanting ancient suktas as fragrant incense smoke curled toward the palace vaults.

In the imperial audience hall of Dharanagari, the magnificent thirty-two-step throne was consecrated upon an eight-petaled white lotus marble dais.
"A new dawn of divine justice shall rise over Dharanagari!"

Royal astrologers fixed the auspicious coronation dawn. King Bhoja observed a three-day fast of body and soul, donning sacred saffron robes for the historic ascension.

At sunrise on coronation dawn, King Bhoja lifted his right foot toward the first golden step. Suddenly, a blinding flash of celestial golden radiance erupted across the hall!

The first carved bronze statue—**Ratnamanjari**—opened her glowing golden eyes, bursting into melodious laughter like the chiming of a thousand temple bells, freezing Bhoja mid-stride!
"Halt, King Bhoja! Dare not set foot upon this throne! We are thirty-two cursed celestial Apsaras of Lord Indra bound within this golden seat. Only a sovereign whose heart matches the absolute selflessness, fearlessness, and egoless virtue of Emperor Vikramaditya may sit here!"

King Bhoja withdrew his foot in deep humility, folding his hands before the living bronze maiden: *"O divine goddess! Relate to me the sacred deeds of Emperor Vikramaditya!"* Smiling warmly, Ratnamanjari began the first immortal tale!
