The Third Statue: Chandrakala & The Ocean Quest
तृतीय पुतली चन्द्रकला: खोया हुआ दिव्य मुक्ता-हार, समुद्र-यात्रा और घड़ियाल का उद्धार
The Third Dawn & Chandrakala
तृतीय सूर्योदय और चन्द्रकला का प्रबोधन
On the third dawn in Dharanagari palace, morning rays reflected off the polished marble dais as King Bhoja approached the thirty-two-step throne.

Draped in solemn saffron silks, King Bhoja ascended toward the third step of the golden throne with reverent, measured steps.

As King Bhoja raised his foot toward the third step, the dais vibrated with brilliant sapphire-blue and golden lunar radiance!

The third carved statue—**Chandrakala (चन्द्रकला)**—opened her glowing sapphire-blue eyes, laughing with melodious temple-bell resonance!
Halt, King Bhoja! Dare not place your foot upon this third step!

King Bhoja paused in deep reverence with folded hands, admiring the living celestial bronze maiden holding a crescent moon diadem.
O divine Chandrakala! What heroic virtue of Emperor Vikramaditya do you bring before my soul today?

Chandrakala raised her crescent ornament, speaking with sovereign authority:
Do you possess the boundless ocean courage and compassion of Vikramaditya when he leaped into the jaws of a prehistoric sea monster to rescue a ruined merchant's swallowed fortune?
The Ruined Maritime Merchant of Sopara
उज्जयिनी राजदरबार और उजड़े हुए वणिक की पुकार
In ancient Ujjayini palace, ruined maritime merchant Shrivatsa knelt in bitter tears before Emperor Vikramaditya on his royal throne.
O Emperor! The demon-crocodile of the southern ocean swallowed my entire life's fortune! Only debtor's prison or death remains for me!

Shrivatsa explained that he had acquired the imperial *Koustubha-Muktavali* pearl necklace from Sinhala, but near the reefs of Sopara, a colossal sea monster smashed his fleet!

The merchant wept in despair: *"The monster swallowed the iron chest containing the pearls whole! My family will starve in penury!"*

Vikramaditya descended from his throne, placing a reassuring hand on the merchant's shoulder:
Fear not, Shrivatsa! A righteous king guards his merchants' livelihood. I shall sail the southern seas myself and retrieve your lost pearls!

At the ancient port of Sopara, Vikramaditya disguised in sailor's tunics inspected a swift multi-masted oceanic vessel (*Nau*) at sunset.
Weigh anchor and set sail south! We steer directly toward the Isle of the Sea Monsters!

Raising its saffron silk sails, the royal ship sailed boldly out into the deep azure waters of the southern Indian Ocean (*Ratnakara*).
The trade winds favor us, brave mariner! With the blessing of the seas, we shall reach the shoals!
The Ocean Tempest & Makara-Dweepa
महासागरीय झंझावात और मकर-द्वीप का संहारक रूप
For days the ship navigated the southern expanse until ominous black thunderclouds gathered upon the stormy horizon.

A violent midnight hurricane struck; mountainous turquoise waves battered the wooden hull as lightning ripped across the skies!

While the sailors panicked in fear, Vikramaditya gripped the ship's wooden rudder with unshakeable yogic calm, steering through the churning abyssal whirlpools.
Hold fast to the riggings, brothers! He whose ship is anchored in Dharma cannot be swallowed by any sea!

Dawn broke over the treacherous black coral reefs of *Makara-Dweepa*, surrounded by boiling sea foam and jagged volcanic shoals.

Suddenly, rising from the boiling waves, the fifty-foot prehistoric sea Makara *Jala-Griva* emerged with a deafening roar, its armored jaws wide enough to crush a ship's keel!

Sailors drew heavy iron harpoons, but Vikramaditya commanded them to lower their weapons:
Hold your weapons! This ancient creature is maddened by the agony of a curse. Violence is not the path of Dharma!
The Fearless Leap & The Healing of Jala-Griva
मकर-मुख में निडर प्रवेश और कण्ठ-पीड़ा का निवारण
Taking a deep yogic breath, Vikramaditya fearlessly leaped off the ship's bowsprit directly into the open jaws of the giant sea monster!

The crocodile's giant jaws snapped shut, plunging into the oceanic depths while the crew watched in breathless horror!

Inside the giant creature's stomach cavity, Vikramaditya spotted the swallowed iron chest of pearls lodged safely against the rib cage.

He discovered a massive rusted iron anchor deeply embedded in the creature's throat—the true cause of its centuries of agony and destructive frenzy!

With gentle warrior hands and soothing herbal balm from his pouch, Vikramaditya carefully dislodged the rusted anchor without injuring the flesh.

Instantly relieved of centuries of torment, the giant sea creature surfaced peacefully upon a moonlit white sandbar, opening its jaws wide in gentle submission.
The Transfiguration & The Restored Pearls
दिव्य गन्धर्व का प्राकट्य और मुक्ता-हार का पुनः समर्पण
Vikramaditya stepped out onto the pristine white sandbar completely unharmed, carrying the iron chest of glowing imperial pearls under his arm.

A brilliant golden celestial aura enveloped the crocodile, breaking its curse and transfiguring it into a radiant winged Gandharva water spirit!

The celestial Gandharva bowed in reverence before Vikramaditya: *"Your fearless compassion has liberated me! I bless these ocean waters with perpetual safe passage for all traders!"*
O Emperor of Dharma! Your fame shall echo across the seven seas forever!

Returning to Ujjayini, Emperor Vikramaditya summoned the weeping merchant Shrivatsa before the assembled court.

Vikramaditya opened the iron chest, placing the radiant *Koustubha-Muktavali* pearl necklace into the merchant's hands, along with five cartloads of gold coins for his losses!
Here is your pearl necklace, Shrivatsa! Rebuild your trade and sail the seas without fear!

Merchant Shrivatsa prostrated in overwhelming tears of devotion: *"You braved the sea monster's jaws for a humble merchant! You are the living soul of Dharma!"*
You are not merely an emperor—you are Dharma incarnate upon this earth!
Chandrakala
चन्द्रकला का निर्णय और राजा भोज का संकोच
Back in the grand audience hall of Dharanagari, the living statue Chandrakala looked directly into King Bhoja's eyes with penetrating sapphire radiance.

Chandrakala delivered her decisive challenge:
Now tell me, King Bhoja—have you ever leaped into the jaws of a sea monster without weapons to save a merchant, or returned a fortune in pearls without keeping a single pearl for your crown? If you possess such ocean courage, ascend this step! If not, turn back!

King Bhoja lowered his head in deep humility and introspection:
I lack such boundless ocean courage and selfless virtue, O celestial maiden. I am not yet worthy of the third step of Vikramaditya's throne.

King Bhoja stepped down from the third step, decreeing that all maritime tariffs across Malwa and port cities be waived, and relief funds established for shipwrecked sailors.

Maritime shelters and disaster relief treasuries were established across all coastal trading guilds.

Twilight conches echoed across Dharanagari as Chandrakala smiled warmly and froze back into silent bronze. **The third day of *Singhasan Battisi* had concluded!**
