The Nineteenth Dawn & Ruparekha
उन्नीसवाँ सूर्योदय और रूपरेखा का प्रबोधन
On the nineteenth dawn in Dharanagari palace, morning sunlight streamed across the sandstone colonnade onto the thirty-two-step golden throne.

Draped in sacred saffron silks, King Bhoja approached the nineteenth step of the golden throne with solemn, reverent stride.

As King Bhoja lifted his right foot toward the nineteenth step, the marble dais erupted with brilliant jade-green and rose-golden radiance!

The nineteenth carved bronze statue—**Ruparekha (रूपरेखा)**—opened her glowing jade-green eyes, laughing with melodious temple-bell chime!
"Halt, King Bhoja! Dare not place your foot upon this nineteenth step!"

King Bhoja halted in deep reverence with folded hands, gazing in awe at the living celestial bronze maiden holding a golden painting brush and unfurled silk scroll.
"O divine Ruparekha! What tale of selfless chivalric protection and northern mountain valor of Emperor Vikramaditya do you bring today?"

Ruparekha unfurled the painted silk scroll, speaking with sovereign authority:
"Do you possess the selfless chivalric honor of Emperor Vikramaditya when a painted silk scroll revealed a captive princess, and he crossed frozen blizzards into an icy fortress to rescue her, asking zero reward or marriage?"
The Master Painter & The Wondrous Silk Scroll
गान्धार के चित्रकार चित्रसेन का आगमन और रेशमी चित्र-पट
In the opulent spring court of Ujjayini, master painter Chitrasena of Gandhara arrived carrying a velvet-wrapped case before Emperor Vikramaditya.

Chitrasena unfurled an exquisite painted silk scroll depicting the breathtakingly beautiful Princess Chandramukhi of Gandhara surrounded by weeping mountain deer.
"O King of Kings! This is the living likeness of Princess Chandramukhi, daughter of King Sinhavardhana of Gandhara!"

The painted princess seemed to weep real tears of grief from the silk canvas; the entire assembly gazed in breathless admiration.

The painter wept, recounting how six months ago, brutal mountain warlord Khadgadhara had raided the northern border, kidnapping the princess to his icy mountain fortress of *Khadga-Durg*!
"King Sinhavardhana lies dying of grief, and no northern king dares brave the frozen avalanche gorges to challenge the bandit warlord!"

Vikramaditya rose from his throne: *"A daughter of Bharat suffering in an icy dungeon is a dishonor to all Kshatriyas! I shall ride to the northern snows this very hour!"*
"Chitrasena! Guide me along the mountain trails; the princess shall be delivered!"

Vikramaditya donned fur-lined leather armor over his silks, girded his Wootz steel blade, and mounted his war stallion *Meghavarna* to ride north.
The Perilous Journey Through Frozen Passes
हिमवन्त के बर्फीले दर्रे और सम्राट का अगाध दया-भाव
Vikramaditya and the painter climbed into the towering, snow-covered mountain passes of Gandhara beneath the frozen Hindukush peaks.

A ferocious mountain blizzard struck; howling sub-zero gales and crashing avalanches threatened to sweep them off the narrow cliff ledges!

Unaccustomed to extreme altitudes, painter Chitrasena collapsed into the deep snow, shivering violently with frostbite and oxygen exhaustion.
"O King... leave me here in the snow... ride on to save the princess..."

Vikramaditya wrapped his own royal wool cloak around the frozen artist, hoisting the unconscious man upon his broad warrior shoulders!
"True Dharma never abandons a comrade on the path to victory!"

Sheltering inside an ancient mountain Shiva cave, Vikramaditya kindled a warm campfire, reviving the painter with hot herbal brews and yogic warmth.

Under the midnight moon, the jagged icy precipice of Khadga-Durg loomed in menacing cold; the hour of liberation had arrived.
The Infiltration of Khadga-Durg & The Icy Duel
खड्ग-दुर्ग पर आक्रमण, पाषाण-प्राचीर और दस्यु-संहार
Perched precariously atop a vertical ice spire over sheer abysses, the stone fortress of Khadga-Durg was heavily fortified by mountain sentinels.

Under the cover of swirling snow, Vikramaditya scaled the frozen vertical precipice using iron grappling hooks with stealth warrior agility!

Inside a freezing stone watchtower, Princess Chandramukhi was chained to a pillar, praying before a clay Shiva lingam for divine protection.

Bandit warlord Khadgadhara and twenty hulking raiders burst into the watchtower brandishing heavy battle-axes and spears!
"Who dares enter my mountain lair?! Hew him into the snow!"

On the icy stone parapet, Vikramaditya's Wootz steel blade flashed like lightning, slicing through bandit spears and disarming the raiders in rapid succession!
"The wages of tyranny are defeat or total surrender!"

With one decisive martial strike, Vikramaditya cleaved the warlord's heavy battle-axe in two, forcing Khadgadhara to his knees in total surrender!
The Sacred Return & Supreme Renunciation

Vikramaditya sliced through the princess's iron shackles, placing his warm mantle around her trembling shoulders.
"Who are you, divine savior, who has pulled me from this frozen hell?!"

Guiding the princess and painter safely down the mountain passes upon his warhorse, Vikramaditya rode toward Purushapura in Gandhara.

Seeing his daughter alive and unharmed, dying King Sinhavardhana embraced her in overwhelming tears of joy, his despair instantly cured!

King Sinhavardhana offered half his kingdom, his entire treasury of rubies, and Princess Chandramukhi's hand in marriage to Emperor Vikramaditya.
"This kingdom and my daughter are yours as our eternal tribute, O Sun of Aryavarta!"

Vikramaditya smiled with pure chivalric reverence: *"A righteous Kshatriya protects Dharma out of sacred duty, not for brides or kingdoms! Princess Chandramukhi is as sacred as my own daughter, and your treasury belongs to the people of Gandhara!"*
"I require zero rubies or tribute for doing my sacred duty!"

The entire court of Gandhara bowed in spiritual awe of an Emperor whose honor was purer than the Himalayan snows as Vikramaditya departed for Ujjayini with zero tribute.
Ruparekha
रूपरेखा का निर्णय और राजा भोज का संकोच
Back in the grand audience hall of Dharanagari, the living statue Ruparekha looked directly into King Bhoja's eyes with penetrating jade-green radiance.

Ruparekha delivered her decisive challenge:
"Now tell me, King Bhoja—have you ever crossed freezing blizzards to rescue a captive maiden, defeated an army of bandits, and returned a princess and a kingdom without seeking marriage or a single ruby? If you possess such valor and chivalric honor, ascend this step! If not, turn back!"

King Bhoja lowered his head in deep humility and introspection:
"I lack such selfless chivalric honor, arctic valor in the face of blizzards, and the pure detachment to return a princess and half a kingdom without reward, O celestial maiden. I am not yet worthy of the nineteenth step."

King Bhoja stepped down from the nineteenth step, decreeing border rescue garrisons, mountain transit inns, and dedicated women's protection battalions established across all frontier regions of Malwa.

Frontier protection garrisons and women's welfare battalions were established throughout the kingdom.

Twilight conches echoed across Dharanagari as Ruparekha smiled warmly and froze back into silent speculum bronze. **The nineteenth day of *Singhasan Battisi* had concluded!**

The remaining thirteen celestial statues gleamed in the evening torchlight, awaiting the dawn of the twentieth test.

King Bhoja departed the throne hall in quiet contemplation, inspired by the pure chivalric honor of Emperor Vikramaditya.
"कल प्रातःकाल हम बीसवीं सीढ़ी पर कदम रखेंगे और बीसवीं पुतली—ज्ञानवती—की अमर गाथा सुनेंगे!"
